ORIGINS

From the early 1930s through to the 60’s truckers were given heavily branded peaked caps by the haulage companies and later by other brands as a way of promoting their businesses. Also known as mesh or net back caps, they gained notoriety through into the 70’s as global brands such as Mountain Dew and agricultural feed companies used them as giveaways at truck stops which is why they’re also known as gimme caps. “Give me”, due to them being handed out for free. Fast forward to the 50s and the trucker cap is the staple in a denim-head wardrobe, still carrying the heavy branding, the net back and the curved peak.
