5 Things That Make A Pioneer in 2022

A pioneer is someone who sees potential. They're an innovator who is willing to try new things. A pioneer pushes boundaries to advance a cause or idea or break a record.

Pioneering men and women throughout history have experienced success in their field, sometimes by overcoming great challenges. They have a clear vision and focus, grounded in their sense of purpose and passion in life. This sense of discovery is fuelled by their curiosity about the unknown or untested. These are all inspiring characteristics, so how can you be a pioneer in today’s world?

Confidence

By very definition, a pioneer is someone who is willing to try new things and this requires confidence. Although some will have natural abilities in certain subjects it’s likely that when trying something new, you’ll be pretty bad at it in the beginning.

Having the confidence in yourself to start and the ability to accept failure graciously creates a positive experience. This pioneering characteristic will help you to believe in yourself and keep trying. Some of the greatest minds in history wouldn’t have been able to invent what we have today if they’d stopped at the first sign of failure, so be confident enough to try...

Style

The type of clothes you wear and the colours you choose all send out subliminal messages on the type of person you are. Additionally, research has shown that the way you dress not only conveys the type of person you are but can also influence the way you think.

We recommend keeping it simple and putting your own spin on things. Pioneers are creators and visionaries, so ignore the ‘trends’ and wear the colours and pieces that resonate with your personality and make you feel good. And don’t be scared to try new things...

Creativity

Creativity doesn’t always mean a pretty painting. Creativity allows us to view and solve problems more openly and with innovation and opens the mind. A society that has lost touch with its creative side is an imprisoned society, with possible generations ‘lost’ to closed-mindedness. It broadens our perspectives and can help us overcome prejudices.

Being creative is about being clever with what you have and seeing the benefits of the restrictions you have. Try a fresh perspective, you might find a new and inventive way to make something happen.

Patience

Whether you’re stuck in a traffic jam or frustrated with a difficult project, impatience is a natural reaction to have when things aren’t going your way. Learning to control your impatience will help you become calmer, happier, and more understanding, no matter what frustrating situation you find yourself in.

Being patient is a key component of a pioneering spirit, you may set high expectations of yourself or get frustrated for not being able to dictate what emotions pop up in your mind. By having the ability to ground and calm yourself, you will be able to see things through, even if they take much longer than expected.

Motivation

Motivation is not a constant thing that is always there for you. It comes and goes, like the tide, but realise that while it may go away, it isn’t permanent. It will come back. You have to ride through the ebb and flow and have things in place for when your motivation fades.

Having a solid goal, celebrating even the smallest of wins, learning about the benefits and not thinking about the difficulties – learning the ‘grit’ to stick it out is what makes a true pioneer.
