INTRODUCING

Most jersey tops keep their seams quiet. The Iron Gate lets them speak. Angled panels move across the body and over the shoulders, more lines than a plain jersey would carry, each one topstitched with a twin needle so the construction becomes the design.

Cut relaxed in a 260gsm organic cotton jersey, with real weight and structure. A 2x2 ribbed collar, ribbed cuffs and hem, and a straight, clean shape styled on the silhouette of a sweatshirt. The top is then piece dyed in a deep Iron Gate grey and given a heavy fade wash, so it arrives already looking well worn in.

ORIGINS

Jersey takes its name from the island of the same name, where knitting was the main export from the Middle Ages. The island's fishermen wore it first as a close-knit and hard-wearing base layer, protection against the cold and the wet.

The Iron Gate seams are structural and also decorative, shaping the fit and allowing movement through the body. Finished to soften with wear.
