INTRODUCING

Woven with history and dyed with intent, the Del Rey Ikat Shirt in Burnt Orange celebrates one of the world’s oldest and most intricate textile traditions. Handcrafted in India using authentic Ikat weaving techniques, each piece carries the soul of slow-made fabric—where pattern isn’t printed but built into the threads themselves.

Cut in a regular fit with a relaxed Cuban collar, turn-back cuffs, and a chest patch pocket, the Del Rey is designed for summer’s slower pace. A back pleat and side seam vents offer comfort and breathability, while the bold orange hue nods to vintage surf culture and sun-faded coastlines.

Finished with Corozo buttons and garment-washed for softness, this is a shirt that wears like it’s been part of your wardrobe for years—effortless, individual, and built to age beautifully.

ORIGINS

Ikat is one of the oldest known textile dyeing techniques, with its name derived from the Malay-Indonesian word mengikat, meaning “to tie” or “to bind.” This method has been practised for centuries in various regions, including Southeast Asia, India, Central Asia, Japan, and Central and South America. While many cultures have developed distinct Ikat traditions, it is in India—particularly in regions like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat—that Ikat weaving has established deep cultural and artistic roots. Unlike printed textiles, Ikat patterns are created by resist-dyeing the yarns before weaving. This pre-dyeing process results in the characteristic soft, feathered or blurred edges of the design, which are unique to the craft.

The Del Rey Shirt pays homage to this ancient artistry—bringing a storied technique into a modern, wearable silhouette. It’s a celebration of patience, precision, and pattern with purpose.
