We've once again partnered with ISKO, one of the world’s leading sustainable denim mills, to create this lighter-weight 12oz raw denim with just 1% stretch, offering you ease of movement and ultimate comfort. With classic 5-pocket styling, this jean stays true to its roots while featuring subtle details like a contrast overlock stitch and a branded &SONS suede back patch.

This denim option is designed to fade with high contrast over time, developing beautiful, natural highs and lows that tell the story of your wear. We recommend holding off washing them for at least six months to allow the raw denim to develop its full character. After washing, the jeans may feel tighter initially but will quickly relax back into form as you wear them.

We advise avoiding contact with lighter coloured clothes and upholstery when wearing raw denim as the colour can transfer. Should the colour transfer onto your lighter-coloured clothing it should wash out with your usual detergent.

ORIGINS

The drainpipe jean has achieved cult status over the years, initially popularized by rockers in the ’60s and punks in the ’70s. However, its origins can be traced back to the 17th century, when men's breeches, the aristocratic predecessor of the drainpipe jean, were favored among French royalty. Like many fashion trends, this style spread to other parts of Europe, including the UK.

In the 1800s, these trousers resurfaced as a mark of rebellion during the French Revolution, taking the form of ‘pantaloon.’ Fast forward to the 1950s, during the Beatnik era, slim jeans emerged as a fashion staple. The fitted look became popular among many style icons of the time.

Through the ’70s and ’80s, the drainpipe jean remained simple, paving the way for personalization during the punk era. Rips, holes, safety pins, and patches became the uniform of the punk generation, with bands like The Ramones and The Cult epitomizing the denim dress code in nearly every album cover and photoshoot.
