Our Hanten Quilted Jacket is a coat, inspired by traditional Japanese clothing. This garment is reversible making it a super versatile, easy to wear piece!

An easy fit, soft textured reversible piece that uses traditionally woven cotton IKAT fabric, this unique jacket is a statement piece. Using 60g wadding with a geometric surface quilting design it’s paired with a reversible belt to style the jacket the way you like it.  

The distinctive pattern brings tradition with a modern twist and presents an ideal way to add a pop of colour and pattern to your Spring wardrobe.

ORIGINS

The coat started to be worn, especially by the common people, in the 18th century during the Edo period. The shape of the Hanten bears a resemblance to the haori and is worn by both males and females. With cotton padding for warmth and a tailored collar, it is suitable for everyday wear. It was originally worn over a kimono or other garments and can be styled regardless of gender, which makes it the perfect replacement for a cardigan or jacket.
