A jacket that records its own history.

"Excellent chore jacket... feels great. Looks great on. It’s a real investment piece."

INTRODUCING

There’s a particular rhythm to a well-worn jacket. It’s thrown on in the morning without much thought, carried through long days, and hung by the door ready for whatever comes next.

The Hirst Chore Jacket follows that same quiet tradition. Inspired by the practical coats worn in workshops and studios, it’s built with the kind of simplicity that only really reveals itself over time.

Cut from durable cotton and finished in a deep Navy sulphur dye, the fabric is designed to soften and shift as it’s worn. Sleeves crease where arms bend, colour fades where the sun finds it, and the jacket slowly begins to tell the story of the days it’s been part of.

For this EDITIONS release, the Hirst is finished with embroidery front and back in our Cheltenham studio, taking cues from personalised workwear and old workshop uniforms. A small orange &SONS mark sits at the chest and the bold “Since Forever” slogan runs across the back in contrasting thread.

Pockets fill with the small things that follow you through the day. Hands find their place when the air turns cooler. The collar lifts slightly when the wind moves through the street.

Nothing about it feels forced or overly designed. Just a solid jacket with the kind of thoughtful construction that allows it to settle naturally into everyday wear.

Over time it becomes familiar. Not just something you wear, but something that carries the shape of the life around it.

ORIGINS

The chore jacket first appeared in workshops and factories where clothing had one simple purpose — to work as hard as the person wearing it.

Strong cotton, practical pockets and a comfortable fit made it a natural choice for long days on the job. As industrial clothing became more standardised, names, company marks and embroidered emblems also began appearing on jackets, shirts and overalls, identifying who they belonged to and where they worked.

Over time, those details became more than identification. They gave otherwise utilitarian garments a sense of ownership and character.

That history sits behind the Hirst EDITIONS Jacket. The original workwear construction remains, with embroidery added front and back to make this version more personal. The sulphur-dyed cotton will continue to soften and fade with wear, while the embroidery stays as a constant against a jacket that subtly evolves over time.
