The Bergman Indigo Cable Knit is a refined mid-layer built for the colder months. Made to hold its shape, deliver warmth, and age with character.

Knitted in a bespoke cable design and finished with structured rib hems, this is a piece rooted in mountain gear tradition but adapted for everyday wear. Elbow patches, deep texture, and a 3-gauge handle give it weight and presence without the bulk. Built from the ground up with considered details that go beyond trend - this is a knit that works with you.

Every Bergman is made from 100% cotton and dyed with real indigo yarn; a time-honoured process that gives the knit its deep, rich tone. Just like raw denim, this indigo will evolve with wear, revealing subtle fades and signs of life over time. It’s not mass-produced colour. It’s colour that tells a story - yours.

Please note: Indigo dye, by its nature is not very colour-fast. This is what helps to create the fades on your product after wear! We advise avoiding contact with lighter coloured clothes and upholstery when wearing raw denim as the colour can transfer. Should the colour transfer onto your lighter-coloured clothing it should wash out with your usual detergent.

ORIGINS

The Bergman Indigo Cable Knit draws inspiration from the heavyweight alpine jumpers worn by mountaineers, seafarers, and craftspeople through the 20th century. Garments built not just for warmth, but for purpose. These knits had to endure the elements while offering structure and comfort in the harshest conditions. We’ve taken that legacy and reimagined it for the modern Pioneer.

The cable knit pattern itself is influenced by vintage Scandinavian and mountain-wear pieces, with each element chosen for function and structure. Reinforced elbow patches, ribbed hems and cuffs, and a mid-weight handle make this a serious layer - one that works hard in colder months, holds its shape, and brings rugged definition to any wardrobe.

This is functional knitwear designed to do more than just look good. It’s built to be lived in. To be thrown over a Henley at the workbench. Worn under a jacket on winter trails.
