MCQUEEN: The Story So Far

“I wanted to recreate inspirational pieces, exact fits, washes, fabric choices, that told his history.”

— Phil James, &SONS' Founder

Every generation has a style icon - someone whose clothes weren’t just worn, but lived in. The McQueen Collection is our tribute to the man who blended rugged authenticity with quiet confidence. It’s a considered, ongoing project to bring his legacy to life - piece by piece, stitch by stitch.

Steve McQueen had a way of making even the simplest pieces feel personal, nothing loud, nothing overthought. Just good clothes, well worn.

This collection is about creating wearable staples that carry the same energy: confident, uncomplicated, and built with intent. The McQueen project is ongoing. We're adding pieces gradually, carefully. It’s not about chasing trends. It’s about getting the essentials right.

The Classic McQueen Style

The McQueen Collection is built around foundational pieces. These are the staples that speak volumes without shouting, garments that fit effortlessly into your wardrobe and work across seasons, ages, and occasions.

The Jake Crisp Tee – The classic white t-shirt, elevated. Clean, minimal, and cut to flatter, this is the most iconic piece in the collection. Steve wore it everywhere- from the set of The Great Escape to lazy weekends wrenching on bikes. It’s simplicity, perfected.

Burbank Stripe Tee – Black and white stripes with a nod to the French navy but rooted in American rebellion. This tee captures McQueen’s off-screen moments—candid, spontaneous, and effortlessly cool. Layer it under a denim shirt or wear it solo with jeans and boots.

Bonner Jeans – A white-wash denim with a lived-in fade, these jeans channel McQueen’s California era. Think open roads, film sets, and time spent out of the spotlight. Style with a worn tee or a denim jacket for that double-denim confidence.

The Chuck Track Pant – Relaxed and ready for downtime. These grey joggers offer a modern take on vintage athletic wear, perfect for slow Sundays or post-ride cool-downs. Pair with the Jake Tee or throw on a crew for cooler evenings.

The Sunracer Sweatshirt – A bold yellow piece that turns heads while staying grounded in vintage athleticwear. Named after the sun-drenched racetracks and desert scenes McQueen was drawn to, this piece is currently out of stock—but returns this autumn.

Randall Denim Shirt – A heavyweight Western-style shirt made from 10oz indigo denim, stonewashed and vintage distressed for a lived-in feel from first wear. A tribute to McQueen’s love of Americana, motorcycles, and the road less travelled.

Style Lessons from McQueen

McQueen’s style wasn’t about being polished - it was about being present. He wore clothes with purpose, but never overthought them. That’s the spirit we’ve channelled here.

  • Keep it simple: A white tee and jeans might sound basic, but with the right cut, fabric, and confidence, it becomes a signature look.

  • Mix utility with ease: Blend hard-wearing denim shirts with soft sweatshirts or joggers for a modern-day version of his effortless balance.

  • Layer like a rebel: The striped tee under a denim shirt, a sweatshirt over the joggers, boots or trainers—it’s the mix that makes it real.

  • Let things age: Nothing in this collection is designed to stay pristine. Wear it hard. Break it in. Let it tell your story, too.

Looking Ahead

This collection has been in the works a long time. New pieces will be added with the same focused approach: purpose-built, inspired by real style, and made to last.

If McQueen’s style taught us anything, it’s that less is often more. That a great t-shirt or a worn denim shirt can say more than a loud outfit ever could. This collection is built with that in mind.
